Fun hiking for all of us. Spooky caves and tunnels and lots of chocolate treats can keep 4 year olds walking for a long time!

Rainier.
http://summitclimb.com/new/default.asp
It was good Bryan had given Anne a plastic map of Mt. Rainier. It was very foggy when we set off and difficult to find the way.

Jess demonstrating her ice ax skills.

Traveling on the Nisqually Glacier.

Jess, Alyson and Tim.

Our group.

Prusiking up ice
on the Nisqually.

Alyson and Tim
exploring an ice cave.

Anne
going up.
Alyson
rappelling
down.

After two days camping at the Nisqually Glacier we headed up to Camp Muir.

Melting snow for water at Camp Muir.

While resting there before summit day we practiced crevasse rescue techniques.

We also practiced pulling ourselves out of crevasses on the Cowlitz Glacier.

The weather could not
have been better!
We then went to bed at 5pm
and got up at 10pm. After
getting our gear and group
together we started up the
Disappointment Cleaver Route
at 11:30pm.
The stars were out and the
moon was bright. We arrived at
the Cleaver around 4am. The
going was slow since we had 6
rope teams of 3 or 4 people.

Little Tahoma.

Pulling up over the summit crest.

Jess and Squash celebrating on the summit!

My camera froze on the summit but there are more photos at
www.flickr.com/photos/sexyclimbers
Our group name became “Sexy Cimbers” so we wouldn’t get harassed by anyone on the mountain asking which guiding company we were with. No one asked any questions after we said we met through a climbers’ dating website.

We visited the Olympic Park where the 2010 Olympics will be held. Bryan and Anne took a biathlon class while N’Aunty and the girls watched ski jumpers take flight. Bryan even entered a biathlon race at the suggestion of the class instructor! Alyson and Bryan took their snowboards up to Blackcomb for an afternoon of riding and came home tired and happy.

She’s getting so big!

We had fun playing in all the snow Seattle got in December.

We spent Christmas in Hamilton and Helena with both the Karlsgodts and Schaeffers.

Made the most of being stuck in Cle Elum for two nights on the trip back due to a closed Snoqualmie Pass.

Had a great birthday party for the girls who turned four in January!

Bryan has even had time to do some skiing!
